Because the grounded states during the aftermath were so difficult, reaching higher states came with more urgency than ever before. A curious thing began to occur: I hallucinated the image of an X almost whenever I closed my eyes, something that continued for nearly a decade. It did not matter what kind of state I was in; the X was almost always there. Intuitions were to surface over the years as to the underlying meaning behind this symbol, and I realized the X was a roadmap, albeit an outwardly simple one, that shed light on how higher states of mind were reached.
